Our Philosophy

Picture
At Young Minds Learning Academy, we believe in creating a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities to allow the "whole child" to grow.  One of our main areas of focus is socialization.  We provide each child with numerous opportunities to interact with other children.  These interactions allow your child to develop important skills such as problem solving, appropriate communication, negotiating and learning to share.  We also incorporate an academic focus into our program, allowing your child to grow intellectually.  Our academic curriculum is built around Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences.  This teaching method is essential in making sure that all children, who have many different learning styles, have the chance to understand what is being taught to them.  We integrate a variety of activities that cater to multiple learning styles, meeting the needs and interests of all children.

We believe children learn and develop best with:

• Hands-On Activities
• Exploration-Based Learning
• Learning by Experiencing
• Play-Based Learning
• Monthly Themed Units
• A Small Group Setting
• Individualized Instruction
• Learning Social Skills with Child-Initiated Problem Solving
• Endless Opportunities for Interaction with Peers

Social Goals:

• To create an environment that builds self esteem and allows each child to be their own unique self.
• To provide children with the skills for appropriate social communication and interaction.
• To allow your child multiple opportunities to interact with their peers and adults.
• To build the skills necessary for problem solving and conflict resolution.
• To provide children with a multi-cultural curriculum which exposes children to the diversity in the world.
• To teach children to accept and appreciate differences among peers.
